Music

Hello, my name is Ledama Tajeu, and I am very excited to be the music teacher at Harmony Ridge P-8! I have lived in several different places over the years, and each one holds a special place in my heart. I was born in Kenya and moved to the United States as a baby. I grew up on the East Coast in Ithaca, NY, spent 10 years in Chicago, IL, lived in Alabama for more years than I would like to admit, and moved to Colorado 6 years ago. I worked as a professional trumpet player for many years before deciding to become a teacher, and have played many different genres of music ranging from Classical and Jazz, to Southern Rock, Funk, and Hip-Hop. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Music Technology at The University of Alabama at Birmingham, and then went on to complete a Master of Arts in Jazz Studies, and a Master of Science in Music Education, at The University of Alabama. I have been teaching music in the public school system for the past 6 years and have had the privilege of teaching students at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. I am excited to share my knowledge of music, it's connections to other subjects, and its cultural significance in the rituals and routines of cultures around the World, with the students at Harmony P-8. In my free time, I enjoy cooking and baking, camping and hiking, working with music technology, reading and listening to books, gardening, playing Xbox games with friends online, and taking naps.

Physical Education

Hello! My name is Sarah Schnetzler and I am so excited to introduce myself as the Physical Education teacher for Harmony Ridge PK-8!
I’m a Colorado Native, born and raised in Littleton. I went to Colorado Mesa University on a soccer scholarship where I also received my degree in Kinesiology with a K-12 Teaching License. I’ve spent the last 4 years teaching PE at Clifton Elementary and coaching high school soccer. After 9 years on the Western Slope, I am excited to be back living in the Denver area close to my friends and family, and am thrilled to be continuing my teaching career at Harmony Ridge!
When I’m not teaching, you can find me cooking, watching sports, working out or playing with my dog, Paisley! I also love to travel and spend time in the mountains. I’m really looking forward to meeting all of you getting our year off to a great start!

Art

My name is Melanie Damore, and I am excited to introduce myself as the Art Teacher for Harmony Ridge P-8 School! I was born and raised on the shores of Erie, Pennsylvania, and I am ecstatic to relocate to Colorado. I graduated from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Art Education (PK-12). I began my career in education as an Instructional Support Aide at a technical high school and as an outdoor Art Educator for a local nature center. I quickly transitioned into teaching Art for the Pennsylvania public school system, and have been teaching Elementary Art to kindergarten through sixth grade students for the past four years. Although I love teaching fine art techniques, I am passionate for reaching as many students as possible through a diverse, integrated curriculum. Many concepts can be learned through the art making process, and I like to include lessons that explore science, math, multiculturalism, and art history. I enjoy spending time in nature; hiking, kayaking, skiing, and fishing. My hobbies also include reading, cooking, painting, traveling, and trying new things. I look forward to collaborating with the Harmony Ridge team to give our students a positive, meaningful educational experience.
